Meet The Cockers!

Here are some of our amazing Wedgwood Cockers and Owner testimonials.

Murphy was welcomed into the Greening family in February 2015 and our home has never been more full.  It’s actual hard to imagine how life was without him now as he has fit in so wonderfully.  Murphy is absolutely adorable golden colored cocker and looks a lot like his dad Georgie but has the coloring of his mother Dixie.  He has grown leaps and bounds since we first brought him home and is almost fully grown.  He has the cutest and biggest paws I have ever seen in a cocker with a gorgeous jet black nose and dark brown eyes.

Murphy is quite a character in our house.  He loves to cuddle and get his belly scratched and is fantastic with kids and other dogs.  He is always chasing after one of his stuffy’s or ball but is also very laid back and calm with the kids.  It’s always cute to sMee his little face pressed up against the glass of the window when we come home from work or listening to him talk to us first thing in the morning when all of us wake up.  It’s like he hasn’t seen us in days and he howls about his adventures and dreams the night before, it’s really too cute for words.  Some adventures we have done since Murphy joined our family include puppy training class, camping, lots of walking, puppy play dates and many more.  Camping had to be one of Murphy’s favorite things as he got to spend time not only with us but with other members of our family as well as their dogs.  He slept really good each night after a full day of playing.

We wanted to wait a while before getting a puppy for our family as we knew this would be a big responsibility and wanted our two boys to be a part of the decision. Finding the right type of dog for our family wasn’t too hard as I was fortunate enough to have a American Cocker Spaniel growing up but finding the right breeder was a must for me.  The minute I connected with Ellen at Wedgwood Cockers I felt I had found the right breeder.  I had a lot of questions and Ellen was so fantastic at answering each and everyone.  Ellen asked us to come out to their farm to meet the dogs and to take a look around.  When my boys and I arrived I was very impressed with how she had the most adorable kennel for her dogs but you could also tell how much she loved her dogs.  Ellen’s love for her dogs and the knowledge she shared sealed the deal for us that we were put on the wait list for Dixie’s next litter.

Life has never been the same for us with Murphy and we are so happy that he is ours.

Murphy when he was a puppy.

Meet Nico and Kinnady

Mr. Nico born May 27th, 2018 to Ellie and Mac. Kinnady born August 13, 2022 to Honey and Wedge. Nico and Kinnady live with their human parents Nicole, JC and Vanessa, in a house with a large back yard in Ladner BC.

Nico loves his toys and balls and usually has one in his mouth. He loves to snuggle, especially at bedtime and when someone comes home. He is very loyal and protective. Nico is very food motivated. He is a very vocal dog, and will let you know when he feels something isn’t right, such as when his ball goes under the furniture and he can’t get it, or if someone is walking by the house. He is also know to send his potty bell flying down the stairs when he needs to go outside to get your attention.

Kinnady

Kinnady is a sassy, snuggly, playful and very nosy pup. Kinnady enjoys paw patrol (neighbourhood watch from her perch on the couch) and sounding her inside alarm so her brother Nico can sound the official alarm. She has also mastered the art of distraction when her brother has a toy or something she wants from him. Kinnady loves to play wrestle and tease her brother whenever possible.

I learned about Wedgwood Cockers from my sister in law Andrea. She invited me out to a dog day at the farm to meet puppies and Ellen. Ellen and I became friends and I have helped her on the farm with the puppies and the dogs. I took care of Kizzy, and a runt that needed to be bottle fed, and had Honey over for sleepovers. I went with Ellen the USA to bring home Bijke. Ellen showed me how to groom my dogs, was there whenever I had a question or concern. Ellen helped me with my Zoie and Chloie even though they weren’t her Cockers. Ellen’s kindness and knowledge has always been second to none. As friends we went on many Costco adventures, vet visits, lunches and she was a huge help to me when I was on my healing journey after my car accident. A friendship I truly treasure.

I recommend Wedgwood Cockers for so many wonderful reasons. The pedigree of Ellen’s Cockers are AAA and all have beautiful temperaments. They are all loving dogs. Her reputation of caring for every pup that leaves her farm is shown in how she is always available day or night to assist with anything, any question or concern. She has a return policy, no other breeder I know has that. If she does take your dog back, she spends time with that dog before she finds it a new forever home. The best thing about Ellen is she stays in contact with all her Wedgies and families through her Facebook group. We have made beautiful connections with so many people part of this group because of the love we share for Cockers. Ellen organizes and hosts get togethers on her family farm to celebrate all things Cocker Spaniel and their humans, Dog Days, Meet the Puppies Days and Family Reunions. I can honestly say it’s truly a magical experience when you get out of you car and are greeted by 30 or so Cockers all so happy to see you. Such a beautiful helpful community we share in this family of Cockers.

Meet Charlie and Dexter

We all live in a house in Mission BC. There is myself Julie, my husband Darren and our two daughters now age 16 and 20. There is a cat who lives in part of the house (dogs have access to all areas, the cat doesn’t) and they get along well with ‘baby Nova” the cat.

Our first Cocker Charlie is 6 years old his parents are Ebony and Georgie. Charlie is black with patches of white on his chin . He is completely attached to my husband and will not leave his side whenever possible – even food won’t tempt him. He is a chill dog and doesn’t love a lot of cuddling. He tolerates his “brother”, Dexter, but avoids him whenever possible. He is a good walker but doesn’t like to do tricks.

Dexter is 5 years old. His parents are Mac and Mona. Dexter is buff and white and loves all of us equally. He loves to cuddle and be cuddled. He loves his “brother” Charlie, but Charlie isn’t as keen on Dexter. Dexter has a tough time with other dogs and is very vocal. He loves to do tricks and get rewarded for his tricks.

Our dogs love to camp. they get super excited when they see us prep for Camping. They recognize the gear we take for them and start dancing about knowing we are going camping. We have a small travel trailer and the dogs sleep where they like – it can be cramped sometimes, but it is all of our happy place for sure. Our dogs are very spoiled, we include them wherever we can in our daily lives. As they get older, they seem to have settled into their personalities and are just amazing animals. They catch on so quickly to things. Dexter was snoring a bit one day and I started asking “Are you talking to me?” Now whenever I say that, he makes all kinds of vocal sounds- moans and groans and yes talking. I can’t imagine life without our dogs- they are a huge part of our family. I love the way you can leave the room for, literally one minute and come back in and they will rush to grab a toy to present to you like you have been gone for days. Their joy in life makes me trying live more like them, to enjoy the moment.

When my husband retired a few years ago , we decided it was time to get a dog- someone would be home all the time. we looked into rescues, but the dogs we found either had health or behavioural issues or they were too small (Chihuahuas) or too big (Pitbulls). There were restrictions on the dogs we liked because at the time my youngest was under 10. I grew up with a buff Cocker Spaniel named Beau, he was the highlight of our lives, so we decided to go to the breeder route. We looked online and found Ellen- she was closet where we lived and when we called her, she was very informative and helpful. We put our name on a list and got Charlie. We were so in love with Charlie, that we thought we should have another dog. So we went to a dog day and bought Dexter. I don’t hesitate to contact Ellen whenever I have a concern or a question – she’s always there. The dogs are awesome there is no question about that, but I think, that it’s Ellen who makes Wedgwood Cockers a family. She is there 24-7 to answer your call and help you with your dog owner questions. She is so experienced and willing to share her knowledge and skills with anyone who asks. She goes above and beyond to make taking your dog home a success, and if, for whatever reason, it doesn’t work-the dog goes back to her. When we picked up Charlie, there was another family getting Charlie’s sister- that didn’t work out and the little girl puppy ended up back with Ellen. We thought about taking her, but she found her permanent home soon after that. I don’t know of any other breeder that will help you in the early days, through the life of the dog, and at the end of the dog’s life. She has her dog days, where all the Wedgwood family is invited to her home visit new puppies and see other dogs. I honestly don’t know hoe she does it- passion and love for the dogs I suppose. Whatever it is, it is commendable. I can’t imagine life without our boys. I know one day that will happen, and I just hope Ellen is still breeding, because we will have our name down….Don’t hesitate getting one of Ellen’s dogs – she even refers to them as “her dogs” long after you’ve taken them home. She’ll always have your back and more importantly, your dog’s back too.
